My story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In April 2012 I will be running the London Marathon to raise funds for the fantastic Leicestershire charity - Wishes 4 Kids.
Why Wishes 4 Kids?
Wishes 4 Kids grant wishes for children who are life limited, terminally ill, have experienced life-changing physical or emotional traumas, have suffered major abuse or are diagnosed as HIV Positive. In itself, that's great but what i love about this charity is the care and dedication that goes into making each wish special - the charity's office walls are covered in photos of the children and young people that have been granted their wish - everything from a young boy meeting the pope to a little girl being made a princess for the day. I have to admit to getting teary on more than one occasion when being told some of the stories behind the pictures. What each wish has in common is that every child and thier family has been given a special memory to carry them through what is undoubtedly a tough time....and that's why Wishes 4 Kids.
Why the London Marathon?
I've been a runner for a number of years and have completed lots of races from 5k to half marathon distances. I'm not a speedy runner but enjoy running and love racing.
The Marathon has previously been a distance I've never considered, indeed, i believed it was just for crazy people, like my dearest Dad (who's ran 14 of them). However, this year, something changed (like a switch flicking in my brain) and I decided that I too should join the ranks of the crazies who had given the 26.2miler a go and what better event than the London Marathon?
The marathon is tough for anyone and i'm certainly not going to be an exception. I'm not a natural athlete so it's going to be a massive challenge - it seemed appropriate that I should mark the occasion by running the race for charity and so for the reasons above, I chose Wishes 4 Kids.
So here i am - signed up to the London Marathon and asking you to sponsor me, as genourously as you can, for the wonderful work of Wishes 4 Kids

Wishes 4 Kids was officially launched in September 2002 with the object of granting a 'wish' for Leicestershire children of eighteen years and below who are life-limited, terminally ill, have suffered severe mental / physical / emotional trauma, those who have been abused and children diagnosed as HIV positive. Since the launch of the Charity it has granted over 300 children's wishes
