I am doing this challenge to support the Mile programme NewLink runs, which helps people recovering from drug or alcohol addiction to give back to their community while gaining valuable skills,  training and experience that can help them move forward in their life.

I have been on my own journey of recovery from alcohol addiction, a problem I had for about 20 years before finding my path to recovery through Yoga.  I was lucky that I was able to navigate my path without reaching out to addiction support services, but am so happy that there are organisations like New Link providing resources, support and opportunities for people who so badly need them.  There is a really damaging stigma attached to addiction which is really unhelpful and prevents people reaching out for help, organisations like NewLink make it easier for people to reach out when they need help.
