My story

Back in London in one piece!! The Marathon went very well last weekend.

It was an amazing experience!!!! I enjoyed the 42Km tour around the city  with a big smile on my face for the most part and thankfully my ankle did not give up on me.  I kept my time on track until I hit the 40Km mark.   The last 2k was the toughest part my legs felt like tonne  and did not wanted run any longer. I pushed through and finished the marathon in 4:05.

The fundraising is going well, we only have a bit more to go: )

I appreciate all of your support to reach my ambition and to raise £1000 for the Good Earth Trust.

Many thanks for your kind support.

As many of you know I’m working for the Good Earth Trust and feel very enthusiastic for the changes we can make in people’s lives.

The need for adequate and affordable housing is enormous. I have seen this myself on my visits to our pilot projects in Uganda. Good Earth promotes simple technologies that can help improve people’s lives dramatically.

We currently focus on a simple block making technology called Interlocking Stabilised Soil Blocks (ISSB) for use in constructing houses, schools, clinics, water-tanks and latrines.  It is high-quality and low-cost, supports local small scale businesses and has a significant environmental benefits.  ISSB blocks are made from earth and a small amount of cement and damp-cured for a few days. The firing of traditional bricks consumes large amounts of high quality wood, leading to deforestation.  Compared with the traditional fired brick, ISSB allows cost savings of 30% on building costs. For a small house it would save about 5 tonnes of CO2 or 25 large trees.  We are promoting the technology with governments, aid agencies and commercial organisations and training and supporting people who wish to adopt it.

We need resources to do our work and are working hard to develop funding through the carbon credit market, which offers the exciting prospect of providing a sustainable source of ongoing funding to promote the technology throughout Africa.  In order to do this, we need your help, so please donate now and help us to offer people the opportunity to change their lives for the better.

Many thanks for your support !

Eszti xx
