In November 2014 I will be volunteering for 6 weeks in Porto Alegre, Brazil for a local NGO called CESMAR which provides education and social opportunities for children and adolescents at social risk . You can find out more about the project by visiting http://socialmarista.org.br/cesmar

I would like to focus on teaching English to the young people to improve their confidence in the language, as well as enabling them to learn about other cultures in the world. I will be volunteering through ICYE UK, whose mission is to promote peace through cultural exchanges with international volunteers.

But I need your help and support to get to Brazil! Over the coming weeks, I will be updating you on my facebook page called 'Cultural Interconnection: UK - Brazil' with news, Brazilian facts and progress on my fundraising. As a film maker, I am also really excited to use these skills to create a short documentary about the lives of the young people at CESMAR. This means you can see first hand how valuable your emotional and financial support will be! I look forward to sharing their stories with you on my return.
