I'm Hannah Houstin-Lacey from the Tenant Farmers Association (TFA) and we are organising a sponsored walk next May to highlight the important work carried out by Farm Crisis Network (FCN).  FCN is a vital support to the farming community during periods of anxiety, stress and problems relating to both the farm household and the farm business. FCN relies on the generosity of others to allow it to provide these services. The TFA and FCN would greatly appreciate your help to raise funds for FCN’s essential work.

The walk will be held in Upper Wharfedale, Yorkshire Dales and two routes of 5 and 7 miles are available depending on the walker’s ability.

The beautiful area of Upper Wharfedale typifies our scenic hill farming environment and is the start of the all important livestock production chain. UK farmers care for the land and provide around 60% of the UK’s food in a managed and a sustainable way, and are shortly to be asked to provide even more! Farmers are fundamental to the management of the land and production of food and it is essential that we cherish this industry, way of life and the environment now and for future generations.

The TFA believes that it is vital to highlight to the public the importance of our hill farms and farming in general. The farming community is a crucial part of our society and economy - without the farmers the landscape would be unkempt and there would be a shortage of locally produced good British food. Therefore, it is important that we work together to protect our farmers who in turn protect and manage the land.

To register for the walk or for further information please contact me at the TFA Membership Department: telephone 0118 930 6130 or email: membership@tfa.org.uk or visit the TFA website: http://www.tfa.org.uk/.

If you are unable to walk but would like to support FCN with a donation, then please send your cheque to the TFA, made payable to FCN or donate via this JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to FCN and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. Thank you.

Hannah
