Please use the page to book a place at Family Rights Group's fundraising dinner.

The dinner will take place  at Tas restaurant in Bloomesbury, which is well located near to the British Museum. We are delighted that the leading childcare barrister Stephen will be our after-dinner speaker on this memorable occasion.

Tickets cost £ 48 per person for a welcome glass of wine, a three course meal at this excellent Turkish restaurant and coffee.

The funding situation for Family Rights Group is extremely serious.  Your contribution will make a significant difference to the organisation's future. It will enable to continue our campaign for national allowance and support system for family and friends carers who are raising children who cannot live with their parents.

Around 250,000 children in this country are being raised by grandparents and other relatives and friends, that is four times as many children as in the care system. These carers are often more impoverished, older and in less good health than unrelated foster carers and the children they look after have suffered as many adversities as those in the care system. Most family and friends carers receive pitifully little in the way of practical, emotional and financial support. The letter below from a grandparent carer expresses the tremendous strain that is placed on everyone involved:

"My life has been completely turned upside down! I had to purchase a larger home, give up my social life and reduce my working hours. I am shattered all of the time as I have to juggle the needs of my own 15-year-old son who has special educational needs and the needs of two vulnerable children, who through no fault of their own have significant problems. It is very hard, harder than I ever imagined. Tomorrow I have to attend my eldest granddaughter's school to discuss her attention-seeking behaviour (setting off fire alarms, throwing ink over the classroom ... the list is endless). I am almost 50 years old. Do I need this? Of course ... they are my grandchildren."
