Make it happen, give a special gift this Christmas to people who are not fortunate enough to have a family to spend it with.

We, young people at RefugeeYouth, want to spend the Christmas period as a family which means for us that we can stay in the same place and wake up to celebrate the Christmas festiviites together. We are young people who belong to different cultures and religions and come from all over the world. We feel we can all come together and celebrate what is often a lonely time for many people. This residential is for new people to the country and people who are isolated including young mothers who have no support. Will bring together our various backgrounds and traditions and make a unique christmas that everyone feels a part of.

The residential will give 26 young people the opportunity to relax and have a 3-day holiday together and as for some people this is the only chance for them to have a holiday as many of us do not have the funds or the papers to travel.

Last year some of us were lucky enough to experience a Christmas residential for the first time, it gave us an opportunity to see what all the fuss over christmas is, we loved the fuss and want to give other people this wonderful experience! We celebrated by having christmas lunch/dinner together, watching christmas films, eating lots, going for walks on the beach and then we ate some more. Everyday was filled with music and dancing and being together just like a Family.

'' Having Christmas dinner for the first time was a magical experience it was not about religion but the beauty of sharing culture through fun, food and friendship I felt welcomed, unity and family. I believe these experiences in my life make who I am today and some of it maybe where I was born. People may not agree with it, but I strongly feel it has challenged my own misconception of different cultures by being open to experience and not being afraid.''
