Hi all,

As many of you know I am off on another adventure, this time however I have been lucky enough to be offered a volunteer placement with Ape Action Africa, a small UK based charity who are dedicated to the protection of endangered Primates in Cameroon, West Africa.

The Charity works with the Government of Cameroon, local communities,environmental groups and other relevant parties by establishing programmes of education, rescue, rehabilitation and reintroduction  to ensure the conservation of primates and other wildlife is upheld.

I will be living deep in the Mefou national park, at the Ape Action Africa forest site with neighbours including, Gorillas, Chimpanzees and a variety of Monkeys, so I think i may just fit in fine! My living condiditons will be basic and i shall be carrying out day to day duties including nursery and quarantine care, construction work and cleaning.

Eary mornings may mean that there is no time to apply the many layers of mascara needed to start the day and yes this may come as a shock to some but this essential routine may have to be put on hold for a while. Not only this but over the last few months I have been trying to learn French as the workers in the forest site are Francophone. There was also the option of learning a number of African languages including Ewondo, Bamoun, Fulfulde, Arabic and pidgin English but thought sticking to the French was probably the most achievable.

Ape Action Aftica is a fantastic charity and all money raised goes directly towards all of the animals within their care, helping to provide them with a healthly and happy life and it would be great if you could help me reach my target by donating.
