I’m trekking to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro for the Baby Care Appeal at University Hospital, Coventry
At 5,895m, Mt. Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes ever to break through the Earth's crust – my challenge is to reach its summit!
Most trekkers will never have experienced a challenge as tough as this, with 1,000m of ascent and over 2,000m of descent. I’ll trek in 25c or above in the day and at night temperatures will drop below zero!
The Baby Care Appeal is funding life saving treatments, new facilities and services to ensure newborn and sick babies, their mums and dads, have the best possible care. It is vital to many developments which you can read about at www.uhcwcharity.org/appeals, these include new cooling technology that allows doctors to wrap sick babies in a special blanket to prevent fatal brain damage and special rooms where grieving parents can spend time with their baby coming to terms with their loss, close by the nursing care mum needs.
Many people who start this trek don’t finish because it is so tough – but knowing that my efforts are helping to care for our community’s sick and premature babies makes me even more determined to reach Kilimanjaro's ice-capped peak.
Please sponsor me; Just Giving will quickly pass your donation (and Gift Aid) to UHCW Charity so it will start to make a difference straight away!
I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donation.
