I am a Gran on a mission! We don't all knit Shreddies you know!

Jan the 1st was a clear cold day. Saundersfoot had had a bit of snow and the roads were slippery. I was one of 1176 swimmers who turned up for the event. Local volunteers had turned out to raise money via a bucket collection and a large crowd had gathered to watch. I had planned to do it dressed in a santa costume but it had received some damage. So I joined the others in a wetsuit. We did aerobics to radio Pembroke on the beach and after the countdown and fireworks ran down the beach to the sea.

I have never been so cold! The icy water takes your breath away as soon as it hits. Once i'd got over the shock it was time to come out again. Once again the cold hit me as i tried to run back up the beach cold and wet.

At the top of the beach I was met by the organisers and given a medal.

Now I'm asking for money as every penny really counts.
