Now don't fall over in shock! I have decided to do a SPONSORED SLIM!!!!!!!!!!

As all of you will now, I have struggled with my weight all my life. I have recently been diagnosed with Pernicious Anaemia, and as with all medical conditions, treatment if most effective when you are otherwise fit and healthy. So here goes!!!!

I have this morning (5th May 2010) joined my local slimming world class. I sat in class and felt very motivated listening to all the stories of other members, and Linda the class leader was very encouraging!

The BAD NEWS!!! I need to loose about 9 stone.

Realistically, this will probably take me a year  - so I will be able to give you a running story of my progress - In the downward direction I hope!!!!!!!

For obvious reasons, I have chosen the Pernicious Anaemia Society as my chosen charity.  Based in Bridgend, South Wales, the society offers support to PA sufferers worldwide. They have a great forum for patients to chat about symptoms and the treatment they have recieved. ( www.pernicious-anaemia-society.org )

The general opinion amongst patients, particularly in the UK, is that there is a lack of awareness amongst GPs about treatment. The society is campaigning to have better guidelines available for treatment, as well as supporting research.

They have very poor funding, and on their behalf would like to thank you for your generosity.
