Gorgeous Freddie Smith was born in the early hours of Wednesday 3rd October 2012, but due to complications around his birth, he was extremely poorly, and was rushed to Luton and Dunstable Hospital's neo-natal unit where the amazing staff there tried their best to help him. Unfortunately, after holding on for 2 days, he died in the early hours of Friday morning in his Mummy and Daddy's loving arms. His Mummy and Daddy were blessed to spend two precious days with their beautiful son and they will treasure this time forever.

Freddie touched the lives of all who met him, and all those who know Lauren and Bobby. He will always live on in our hearts, and when you look up at the night sky, and see a twinkling star, know that Freddie is there looking down on us all.

Lauren and Bobby would love to try and give something back to the neo-natal unit at Luton and Dunstable (L&D) hospital, and all money raised through this page will go to the hospital and straight to the neo-natal intensive care unit.

One in seven babies born at the L&D require specialist care.

The unit is trying to raise £1.5 million to enhance and equip the new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). They have raised £560,000 so far. Money raised through the Appeal will pay for enhancements and will not replace government funding.

The unit has 20 cots,it has managed to recently squeeze another 6 in, but has to turn away over 10 babies every month. L&D is raising money for a brand new unit, with 46 cots to service Herts, Beds, Bucks and beyond. They need equipment for this unit, such as incubators (cost £30,000 each), ventilators (cost £20,000 each) as well as many other facilities to make the unit as comfortable as possible for the newborn babies, and their families.
