Story

Sponsored Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for Help for Heroes

What’s it all about?

The Three Peaks Challenge Team

We are a group consisting of Regular and Territorial British Armed Forces personnel who are attempting to climb the biggest mountains in , and and we have given ourselves the target of 24 hours including travel time between mountains to accomplish this task.

The team is-

James Best, Andrew Wills, Lee Ramsden, Rob Wills, Will Baker and Matt Townhill

We have just 24hours to climb -

·         ’s - (4409 feet ) in the Scottish Highlands,

·         ’s Biggest Mountain-Scafell Pike (3210 feet )in the

·         - (3560 feet ) in Snowdonia

We will travel-

42km total walking distance, 11 000 vertical feet, 765 km travelled in total and at least one mountain climbed during the night!

The money we raise will help our Armed Forces Heroes recover from injuries sustained whilst in service. It is not about supporting the war, it is about supporting the men and women. They do not get the oppertunity to decide whether they should be there or not.

What do Help for Heroes do?

Help for Heroes is a charity organisation that provide rehabilitation and recovery to our injured Armed Forces Personnel. With your help we aim to raise money towards new Army Recovery Centres.

Army Recovery Centres (ARC) will help soldiers to make the swiftest possible return to duty, or smoothest transition to an appropriately skilled and supported civilian life, for seriously wounded, injured, or long-term sick soldiers, irrespective of cause of injury, within a conducive military setting.

Soldiers will live in a comfortable individual room within the centre, which will be attached to a garrison, so that wounded soldiers can stay within a structured military environment close to friends and family, and can take advantage of the garrison facilities.

In addition to offering medical support, ARCs will provide wounded soldiers with an individually tailored programme, including career management and counselling (which takes into account their particular injury and skill set) as well as assistance with resettlement.
