This was the biggest physical challenge of our lives!
We rose early on Saturday morning to tackle Ben Nevis at 6:45am, watching the sun rise higher in the sky as we climbed. Arriving at the top hours later we found the temperatures dropped dramatically, so we took our photo and went back down.
After a 6hour drive where we re-fuelled our bodies and got some rest, we arrived at the bottom of Scarfell Pike. After the first hour climb the daylight was almost gone so out came our head torches to light the way for us. It got colder and the cloud started to set in as we scaled the rocks in certain parts of the path. Surprisingly the peak was clear, but still very cold so we made a quick turn around and headed back down. Unfortunately this is when the weather set in and as we walked along the path, in parts it was like walking in a creek on very slippery rocks.
Many hours later we were back at the bus, and due to the timing and the conditions, and the fact that we were drained, it was decided that we would not climb Snowdon.
As disappointing as this decision was, we are elated by our achievement, and thank you again for your support.
