On the 15th of August 2009 I will be taking part in the much anticipated Great London Swim - this is a one mile open water swim in the Royal Victoria Dock, . The one mile course will be set against the magnificent skyline, with views of and The O2 arena providing the perfect backdrop for thousands of swimmers as they take to the water.
I have decided to raise funds for the charity Brain Tumour Action - this charity is based in Edinburgh and all funds go towards providing patients with someone to talk to, to know that they were not alone and to realise that there were other people going through the same problems and experiences as themselves. BTA aim to provide education to the public about brain tumours and provide funding for research into brain tumours and their treatment.
This charity is particularly important to me as a year ago my girlfriends mum - Carole Alexander- was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma. This is one of the worst forms of cancer possible - little is known about it and there is no known cure. Sadly Carole passed away two months ago. Please help me to raise funds for this charity to try and understand this terrible cancer and to try and provide some hope for future sufferers.
