Story

GRS will soon be taking part in the Bangers4BEN (Mk II) motor trade challenge. Along with other teams from across the motor industry, we have found a car costing less than £250..(The Collina Caldina!) that will hopefully take us from Ascot to John O’Groats and back again.

We are taking part in this challenge to raise as much money for charity as possible. After the journey is completed the cars will be entered in a special BCA auction and all the money raised will be donated to BEN, The Automotive Charity.

In addition to the final price our car makes we are also trying to raise a little extra money for BEN.

Our Team -

Julian Pullen, James Schofield and The Collina Caldina....

Our Car -

A 2001 Toyota Avensis 1.8 VVTi CDX 5dr

The Plan -

Day 1 – Monday 9th November 2009

We start at BEN’s headquarters in Ascot, Berkshire. From here we’ll start the longest part of the journey to Inverness, hopefully covering 560 miles without AA assistance!

Day 2 – Tuesday 10th November 2009

From Inverness we'll head north in convoy to John O’Groats, if we get there we then turn around and head back towards Berwick-upon-Tweed, once here we will be visiting BEN's residential care centre for dinner and a fireworks display!

Day 3 – Wednesday 11th November 2009

Leaving at 7.30pm we’ll be heading for our final destination…Brands Hatch racing circuit.  If the car isn't already on the back of an AA recovery lorry by this point all teams will take to the track for a few celebratory laps!!

Tweeting!
Each team is has set up a Twitter account and will be ‘tweeting’ along the way! If you’ve never used Twitter before, don’t worry, it’s very simple.  Please click the link and follow our progress – www.twitter.com/GRSWhereToMate

Basically, Twitter is an online blog, to which we will send quick and sometimes witty updates to, when ever we can!

Also each car has been given a three letter identifying code, ours is GRS, but we do have some other brilliant stickers going on our car, thanks to Steve and James in Marketing!! .

Incentives!!

Car Dealer Magazine will be handing out ‘special’ prizes in a few categories…

The Overall Winner will be decided by the team that completes the trip and makes the most profit when their car is sold.

The Best Decorated Car – as decided by BEN. Purely picked by the charity. (Looking at our picture above, we'll surely win this one!)

The Top Tweet – as an incentive to document the journey via Twitter, Car Dealer Magazine will be handing out a gong for the team that submits the most entertaining and relevant tweets during the event. This will be judged by the Car Dealer editor.

We obviously want a clean sweep of all the prizes, so please help us raise a little extra money for charity, please donate and follow us on Twitter - www.twitter.com/GRSWhereToMate
