Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising money for the World Land Trust. This is a fantastic charity that attempts to reverse the depressing stories we all see on wildlife programmes by buying land and preserving habitats in some of the most critical areas for wildlife in the world. They do this so that the land is saved in perpetuity - for good. 400,000 acres have already been saved in this way.
Some people may wonder why give to an animal or conservation charity when there is human suffering in the world. The simple answer is that in 50 to 100 years time there may be no tigers in the wild, no orangutans swinging from tree to tree, no jaguars, no rhino, no cacophonous, teeming rainforest. I have been fortunate enough to stand 10 yards from a wild gorilla, to see chimps and orang-utans in the wild and to spend time in rainforests in Borneo and Peru. These experiences have been among the best and most moving of my life. To me, a world without the wonders and beauty of nature is a world not worth living in, for anyone. How can we destroy this for future generations, forever?
To secure your money, I will be doing one of my least favourite activities - running, culminating in the Liverpool half-marathon in March. ANY amount of money you can spare would mean the world to me as I'm doing this because its something I passionately, passionately believe in and I am willing to put myself through hell for it.
Thank you so much for your support.
