Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Since losing my mum to cancer nearly 8 years ago, I have seen more and more of my friends, colleagues and their families affected by the disease.  The one place they invariably have contact with is the .

My mum spent the majority of the last two years of her life in this hospital and so it became practically our second home as well.  To be honest I have only just recently been able to pass the hospital without getting teary as it holds lots of memories, unfortunately most of these are painful, but lots of them are memories of hope and the memories of the some of the wonderful staff that cared so lovingly for the patients.

I miss my mum more than I can express here, her motto was always ‘LIFE ISN’T A REHERSAL’ and I think part of the reason I keep partaking in these mad challenges is to make her proud.

I need to raise at least £4,000 so please give all you can to an amazing hospital, that gives specialised support, treatment and care to people affected by cancer,  but which if I’m honest, I hope I never see the inside of again…

I HAVE SET MYSELF 2 CHALLENGES IN ORDER TO RAISE THIS MONEY

On March 21st this year I will be embarking on a trek across the south of NEW ZEALAND.

This will be 11 days trekking across mountains and particularly rugged terrain for up to 8 hours a day (carrying all my own stuff!) across the South Island of New Zealand.

This is in addition to the challenge (and if you know me, you’ll know how hard this will be) of camping every night!!. (all the creepy crawlies, plus where will I plug my hairdryer in????)

8 weeks after this, will be the second part of my fundraising challenge:

I will be taking place in my first TRIATHLON!!!!

It will be 450 metres swimming then straight on the bike for a 20k cycle then, straight off on a 7k run which is mostly uphill.!!!!

God knows what I have let myself in for !!!

I am starting my training plan in November and hope to be able to complete both the trek and the triathlon in one piece!!

I did the marathon this year and next year I really want to push myself to achieve as much as possible for charity.

A few facts about the hospital you probably didn’t know…

Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity exists to support the work of which is 1 of only 3 dedicated cancer hospitals in the country.

provides cancer treatment services for patients across the region - and that means Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster, Worksop and as well as . Increasingly treatment is being delivered in your community and your local hospital all under the expertise of specialists.

Patients come from all over the country and sometimes from abroad for the specialist treatments for which the hospital is internationally recognised.

The radiotherapy department is a leading national centre and is one of the best equipped in the country providing some of the shortest waiting times available.

The Cancer Information and Support Centre is a drop-in centre offering patients, their families and carers extra help and support financially, emotionally and practically, in living with cancer.

The Teenage Cancer Unit at provides a specialised unit for patients aged 16 to 25 which is supported in by the Cancer Charity and endeavours to create a ‘home form home ‘ feel for young people at this most difficult time of their lives.
