For those of you that know my good school friend, Will Scott, know that he is strong willed and always up for a challenge. At just 29 years old unfortunately his most recent challenge has been the hardest. After what seemed an innocent stomach ache in September this year, Will was diagnosed with cancer. It has come as a huge shock to all his family and friends, and it seems the person who is dealing with the news the best is Will. Not long after receiving the news of the cancer Will has been moved to the Hospice in the Weald, as he is too weak for treatment.
After visiting Will and his family in the hospice my mind was a little more at rest knowing that he is comfortable there. The hospice has beautiful gardens which Will can see from his bed whilst listening to the fountain outside, the staff were friendly and the family had a room in which they could talk with visitors, and feel as though they are with Will all the time.
Unfortunately there isn’t a lot more that can be done for Will, so I would like to take this opportunity to raise some money for the Hospice in the Weald to allow them to continue helping people like Will and their families. I have decided to enter a duathlon (run/cycle/run) on November 22nd 2009 (just a week to train!) and really hope that you can all find it in your hearts (and pockets) to sponsor me as much as you can. The duathlon is held at Castle Coombe race track (near Bristol) at 11am onwards - all support is very very welcome - as well as a glass of wine at the finish line!
