Thanks for taking the time to visit George's Marvellous Medicine JustGiving page.

George was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in June 2009.  So far he's had a tough 17 months of treatment with more general anaesthetics, canulars, blood tests, hospital visits and chemo than you would wish on anyone in a life time.  He has been unbelievably brave and strong throughout and is an example for us all to follow.  He amazingly still managed to start his first year at Aldryngton Primary School in September 2009 and has managed to make it in most weeks inbetween regular hospital visits for chemo, treatments and check ups.  George was diagnosed in Reading and almost immediately transferred to The John Radcliffe in Oxford to the specialist children’s hospital to start his treatment. George being the character he is became well known among the nurses and doctors and made some very good friendships during his stay. Since being allowed home he still visits Oxford but now has the majority of his treatment in the Royal Berkshire Hospital.  Again, George has met some very special and kind nurses and doctors and has built up very good relationships with all the staff in Reading too.  George is looked after on Lion Ward where there are two oncology rooms for children like him with Leukaemia and other childhood cancers.  George’s Marvellous Medicine is a charity we have set up for him under the umbrella of Reading and District Hospitals Charity.  It is primarily to raise money for the two oncology rooms that George uses whilst staying in hospital and having treatment.  He’s already handed over a Nintendo Wii very kindly donated by MGB Consulting.  This has proved a very good distraction from day 1 for George whilst receiving treatments as it really takes his mind off what he's there for.  Our aim is to make the time George and many other children spend in hospital as enjoyable and fun as possible.  And to give them and their families two lovely rooms to stay in where food and drinks can be made and entertainment found to take their minds off the more serious issues in their lives.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
