TEAM BAYFORD (Combined aged 90): London Marathon April 2010
Jill (50ish is the new 20) Bayford says:“I am in it to realise a life long ambition but I definitely didn’t think I’d be such a late achiever. When the phone rang and a voice said they were about to make one of my big wishes come true, various visions went through my head.... a trip to Paris, dinner with Johnny Depp or shopping at Harrods with an unlimited budget. What I wasn't expecting was a day out in London with 36 thousand strangers, to include a 26 mile run!! I was a bit worried about the disparity in our ages but Georgie will just have to do her best to keep up ”
Georgie (Pass me another vodka) Bayford says:
“I met Mum tonight to put together our Marathon campaign. What better to way to start than with dinner in town, the finest Merlot and the most delicious bread and butter pudding covered in cream?.....Training starts tomorrow! I said I would NEVER take part in the Marathon again….. at least this time I have a running partner I think I can beat……..For the record Mum will be 59 and 9 months and she seems to think that counts as errrrr 50ish??”
Our Mission:
Good Cause:
RAPT – Rehabilitation of Addicted Prisoners Trust.
STOPPING ADDICTION. STOPPING CRIME.
This charity believes that anybody who needs help should be helped. They work hard with people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol and caught in the criminal justice system by providing them with the support they need to become clean, stay clean and turn their lives around. The 12 step model of addiction is followed and their success rate is phenomenal. One of the inspiring things about this charity is that the amazing fighters who succeed in the programme often devote their lives back to RAPT and to helping others who have not had the luxury of the choices and chances available to many of us.
If you would like to help us and don’t particularly fancy the 26mile/42KM run the please feel free to sponsor us here.
