Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Brighton Marathon!! Crazy, I know - but I'm a glutton for punishment! I have chosen to run for The Stroke Association, which is a charity pretty close to my heart.
Two of my family members have been the victims of stroke and I have seen first hand how many ways it can affect the sufferer and everyone around them. Each year around 100,000 people in the UK have a first stroke, and a further 50,000 have a second or subsequent stroke. This averages one person every 5 minutes. Stroke is the leading cause of severe disability and the third biggest killer in the UK, after cancer and heart disease, yet until recently it was commonly unheard of or misunderstood.
The Stroke Association is the only charity solely concerned with preventing stroke and ensuring that everyone touched by stroke across the UK gets the help they need. They do this by providing support to sufferers, their families and carers, and by promoting research into stroke prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and long-term care, among other things.
Please help support their work by sponsoring me for the madness of running 26.2 miles.....
.....and don't forget to Gift Aid your donation - this gives the Stroke Association an extra 28p per £ so really does make a difference!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
Please dig deep and donate now!
Thank you,
Georgina
