As most of you know, last year I was a volunteer for children's charity 'Destination Florida'.
Destination Florida is a charity which specialises in organising sunshine holidays to Florida for children between the ages of seven to fifteen who have missed out on the fun and laughter of childhood due to life-limiting illness. The holiday's are a week long and are meticulously organised with a full medical team of experienced doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and carers enabling the children to be given their normal medical treatment, yet still enjoying a holiday of a lifetime. A dream that very few have a chance of achieving.
As a volunteer for the charity I have seen first hand how much these holidays mean to the children and how beneficial this holiday of a lifetime is. The children come back having had an amazing time, meeting children who like them, have experienced life threatening illness, giving them much more confidence in themselves.
I am hoping to raise £500 over the next year with various events, one of which will be a sponsored 5k run, in Heaton Park on Sunday 11th October. All donations no matter how small will be appreciated and will benefit more children through this wonderful charity. Thank you xx
