Hello we are the West Yorkshire Rowers and we are taking part in the Row the Channel Challenge on Saturday 28th November . You can come and see us at The Ridings Shopping Centre, Wakefield from 10.30 am and support us in our epic row. We aim to beat the opposition and bring home this first trophy to West Yorkshire. We have to row the equivalent of the channel in the fastest timeso we will be going for it hell for leather!
Just to tell you a little bout us so you know we we are. Kevin Sutcliffe is based at Ossett and is ex forces and real strong guy who competes in endurnace events such as Toughman and Iron Man. James Ward from Wakefield is an ex professional rugby player with York. Andrew Mahony is based at FSHQ and is a trainee Fire Fighter and is Chris Baldwin. John Hutchinson is basd at South Emsall and is a windsurfing instructor. Chris Kirby is a Station Manager at HQ is a British Water Polo team member and last but not least is Chris Bell from Cleckheaton who is a Watch Manager and a fitness instructor.
We are taking part in this event to help raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity and make sure as many fire fighters in West Yorkshire get the help they need.
Every 30 seconds UK fire fighters are called to an incident , putting their lives on the line ten sustaining physical injuries whilst carrying out their duties. THe Fire Fighters Charity is here for fire fighters during times of need and assists over 17,000 individuals very year, by providing uiponeering treatment and support services.
