Earlier this year I was privileged enough to visit Ethiopia to see the work of St Matthew's Children's Fund (SMCF) at first hand. Despite the lack of many comforts that we take for granted, and the uncertainty over basics like food, water, electricity and so on, the people I met are determined to make things better for themselves and those around them, especially children. In this year when we celebrate the 25th anniversary both of our marriage and of the terrible famine in Ethiopia, Band Aid, etc, help us give children in Addis Ababa a helping hand with their education.
We are raising money for a library and education resource centre in a very poor area of Addis Ababa which the Bishop of Ethiopia, Rt Rev Andrew Pround, is planning. The Diocese already has one such centre in the church compound where children can come to study, read or even play games in a peaceful and caring atmosphere. Will you join us in creating something very worthwhile to celebrate our momentous event.
