My story
Thank you so much to all of you who have donated so generously, and of course to all the volunteers who shaved their heads! Kept warm by some particularly lovely woolly hats in King's colours, for which we are very grateful. It's still not too late to donate (we've all still got very silly hair after all...) so please do spread the word and let's see just how far we can push that amazing total!

Kate McCutcheon, a member of King’s College, Cambridge, was unable to return to college this year after being diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour towards the end of the summer. The tumour has been successfully removed and Kate is now undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and will be for another eight months.
To show solidarity with her and to raise loads of money for Macmillan Cancer Support, a group of King’s students are shaving our heads. The current list of soon-to-be baldies is:
Hannah Shackleton, Alex Hayes, Alice Moore, Lotte Cutts, Angus MacDonald, Rob High, Paddy Kane, Chris Logan, Kieron Kumar, Elliot Carter, Paul Thomas, Rob Smith, Ben Laing, Tom England, Will Lawn, Brendan Doran, Ed Liddall, Adrian Fielding, Oisin Huhn and Mark Gotham.
We plan to make this into a bit of an event, so on Saturday 26 November we will set up in King’s bar and go bald against cancer. Those with long enough hair will be donating it to the Little Princess Trust to make wigs for children.
Kate’s situation has prompted us to do this, but considering that one in three people will develop cancer at some point in their lives, we also have many other people in mind, as I’m sure do you.
Any donations would be gratefully received. The King’s Affair committee has also kindly agreed to donate half of its charity budget to the cause, for which we are very grateful.
If anyone wants to get involved, either by being shorn or helping with fundraising, email Hannah (hvs25@cam.ac.uk) or Lotte (cec71@cam.ac.uk).
