I have always been inspired by Drs Mat and Joanna Peacock who graduated in 1957 from Glasgow and were close friends of my late mother. They went on to commit most of their professional life to the Duncan Hospital in Bihar. This outpost near Nepal is a mission hospital serving a population of 11 million. Jackie and I were saddened to hear that the medical building was crumbling and that plans for a new build had been shelved. We were delighted to be able to offer assistance - the new hospital will open in December. I have been invited and plan to attend the opening with my friend and medical colleague Graham (Watson) as we would both be keen to offer clinical support in the future. As I have learned more about the care offered at the Duncan I can assure you that every penny raised will be used wisely.
