Story
Following our successful completion of Tough Mudder (see www.toughmudder.com) last year Scott and I have decided to try and attempt an even more ridiculous challenge this year (the more astute reader of this will already be able to see where this is going). We considered the marathon but decided that it wasn’t quite the challenge we were looking for.
After careful deliberation we have decided to run (walk/crawl) from London to Brighton for Great Ormond Street Hospital on the 24 May, a total of 62 miles. We are aiming to complete the challenge in around 20 hours. Training is under way and whilst we are not entirely sure how we find our way over the South Downs in the middle of the night we are confident that with your support we will be able to find the motivation to carry on to the finish line.
Apparently it is about now that we have to explain why we have chosen Great Ormond Street as our charity. May be it is just that I am maturing (I should point out that Scott still has a long way to go on this) but we felt that it seemed pointless flogging ourselves to death training if we couldn’t do something to help others at the same time. With young children myself it was probably a combination of a pull on the heart strings when you read through some of the stories on GOSH website (www.gosh.nhs.uk) and being able to relate to some of them that seemed to strike a chord.
We too thought that we were fools until we managed to recruit our colleagues Adam Walker and Jon Barthrop to our team thereby clearly proving that this is a completely rational thing to be doing (and not they, like us are idiots).
Either way we need your help to raise as much money as we can for this great cause and therefore please click on the link below and reach for your wallet (hopefully it won’t contain as many moths as Scott’s)
