The story so far.......
Turned 40 in 2009 and needed a challenge. March 2010 treking to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro seemed a good one raising money and awareness for www.helpforheroes.org.uk seemed a great reason to do it.
I'm ex armoured corps and to put it bluntly am devastated by what I see happening to "Our Boys" Nothing in my time came close to what our servicemen and women are facing in Afghanistan and until recently Iraq. Rehabilitation of our soldiers, for whatever reason is crucial so that they can continue with their lives following conflict. Help for Heroes plays a pivotable role in this.
I have been overwhelmed by local support and have been busy fund raising hosting several social nights. The Pensby Hotel, Wirral has been at the forefront of the fundraising efforts with a great night held there in November. A week later was the British Legion, Heswall and everyone was again entertained.
Efforts are now focused on my training and towards a fantastic charity auction night on 26th February 2010 at www.sheldrakes.co.uk hosting this will be Roger Phillips and Billy Butler (BBC Radio Merseyside) with several live acts members of two local regiments.
Sponsorship:
www.vango.co.uk have given me their full support supplying equipment and raising awareness of this event on their website.
www.hallmarkjewellers.co.uk have sponsored my Timex Expedition Watch.
www.totalfitness.co.uk/health-club/prenton-wirral training facilities.
www.cattonhall.co.uk provided an auction prize.
So remember please dig deep for a great charity.
