Well, I managed to reach my 2 targets - I didn't fall off my bike this time, and I beat last year's time - hooray!
It was hard, but I really enjoyed it. The ride was rather blustery, and the run a bit of a slog - especially the long stretch between Dobbies and the roundabout at Darras Hall (if you know it!) - but the support of Kirsty, Sam and Luke kept a smile on my face. And the boys were happy with the free chocolate chip cookies provided by Waitrose!
I've also managed to beat the amount raised last year, so if you sponsored me, thank you so much for your generosity. It's really appreciated.
Cheers,
Guy :-)

Hello, thanks for reading this.
I'm doing the Sunshine Tri at Ponteland leisure centre on 16th August 2009. It's a sprint tri - which means it's a 400m (16 lengths) swim, a 20K (13 mile) bike ride and a 5K (3 mile) run.
It's a charity event - everyone taking part is raising money for the Evening Chronicle's Sunshine Fund, which "provides specially adapted equipment to improve the quality of children's lives here in the North East".
I did it last year, and although I crashed on the bike stage, I managed to complete it in about an hour and ten. I'm hoping to improve on my time (I've been putting in quite a few hours training), but my main aim is not to have any mishaps. With that in mind, I've installed some precarious aero-bars on my bike, which I'm sure to come a cropper on :-).
If you could spare a couple of quid for this worthwhile charity, it would be much appreciated. Otherwise look out for me in the Chronicle (road casualty section), come Monday! Cheers, Guy
