Hi,
My name is Hamish. I have just finished my Masters and I have been given the great opportunity to go volunteering abroad with DFID sponsored chairty Skillshare International, to the country of Botswana.
In Botswana I would be mainly based in the town of Ghanzi, in the Kalahari desert, inhabited by the indigenous San community. Once there my main duty will be to help develop a sustainable health youth program for the community, chiefly to address issues surrounding education about HIV/AIDS and TB. I will also be engaged in a plethora of other activities from teaching to helping locals with day to day job requests. Overall, this will be helping this community meet targets of the Botswanan governments Vision 2016 to stop any new cases of HIV/AIDS and reduce other health problems.
Part of the Skillshare volunteer experience is to raise money for Skillshare International itself. I am aiming to raise £2000 for Skillshare International, which will be reinvested in helping other people in the UK that are less financially able, to undertake this sought of volunteer work, but most importantly it will be invested in the charities activities across the world, in development projects from India to Uganda or the project I will be working on in Botswana.
It is a good cause and I hope you can help.
