My story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

This will be the third year we have climbed Helvellyn in Aid of the Gurkha Welfare Trust, This year the Hike Up Helvellyn is called the Richard Cresham Memorial climb in honour of one of our members who passed away last year.  The hike is in honour of the men of the 1st Battalion of 9th Gurkha Rifles who fought on Hnagmans Hill at Monte Cassino in 1944, cut off by day they held the hill for 16 days supplied at night by men of other regiment carrying food and ammunition up on there backs and bringing the wounded out the same way, at the end of the 16 days there were 177 men and 7 officers left of the battalion
