Hello, we are the 'Heartful Dodgers' - a team of walkers and runners who are taking part in the Bristol half marathon to raise funds for the Cardiac Rehabilitation service at North Bristol NHS Trust, (NBT).
This crazy idea came from three chaps who had been through the Cardiac Rehabilitation programme at NBT two and a half years ago and had continued exercising at their local gym. Chris explained, 'The Rehab team have put so much work into getting us back on the road - we wanted to give them something back!'
So the idea was born.......!
We are now an eight strong team, including Cardiac Rehab staff, running to raise much needed funds for equipment and resources to improve the service.
The Cardiac Rehabilitation team at NBT see patients following a heart attack or coronary artery bypass grafts, offering them support and advice and the opportunity to attend a seven week programme of exercise, relaxation training and health education following their heart event.
Thank you for your interest in our story, please consider donating, a small amount can go a long way! Just to give you an idea:
£11 would buy us a blood pressure cuff
£45 would buy us a set of steps for the classes
£60 would buy a blood pressure machine or exercise text books
£300 would buy a place on a course for a member of staff
£500 would buy 10 heart rate monitors for the classes
£3000 would buy a years supply of printed out patient information books
£3500-£4000 would buy a lightweight portable ECG machine for the classes
We are all training really hard and would like to thank you for your kind support!
All monies raised will go directly to the Cardiac Rehabilitation service at North Bristol NHS Trust, to benefit future patients.
