This gave me the idea of walking the Thames Path with my dog Pringle and at the same time helping to raise funds for the street children in Latin America through the work of Toybox. It will be a 215 mile walk along the River Thames from the source near Cirencester to Southend.
Toybox helps street children in Central and South America. I went to visit the project in Guatemala a couple of years ago and was inspired by the work taking place there. Children are being rescued from the streets and are being helped to prevent them from going on to the streets in the first place. Parents are supported, educated and given opportunities - all for the benefit of the children.
This work is progressing so well that Toybox is helping children in Peru and Bolivia as well as Guatemala.
I am not one of these people who think nothing of a ramble. I walk my two dogs (Peanuts, 17 and Pringle, 5) once a day for about 45 minutes at the most. I have never done a long walk so this is going to be a real challenge but for the benefit of the street children I am willing to undertake this.
Please support me in my challenge and dig deep for the street children! Thank you.
