Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This is my story so far...

It's started so simply - chatting away to a dear friend on the phone, I stopped mid-sentence & swore. The day I had been dreading for years had finally arrived - yup, I'd found a lump in my boob. Ok, no panic, just get to Doc's as soon as possible, it will be fine, I told myself. Mum did this, Nana did this, I can do it too.

That was before I got the biopsy results - type 3, aggressive. Oh Shit! So that's where I am now, waiting for an operation & then chemotherapy. I have long hair & a lot of it. It's probably going to be gone anyway so I thought I'd take control of this little bit & choose when it goes & where.

I'm hoping it is long enough & in good enough condition to be donated to a wig making charity so sponsoring me to have it cut off will help Breast Cancer Care but my hair will also be helping another charity.

Why Breast Cancer Care? Because they have a fabulous website, full of information which has helped me already whilst I waited for test results. Reading that gave me enough knowledge to actually take in what the Doctor was telling me today. They also have a forum & loads of other useful stuff going on there too.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

25/06/12 Yikes! Today is the day I get my haircut - been about 4 years since I last had it even vaguely short - going for a really really short cut - will get photo later.

02/07/12 Taken me a while to get used to it & a photo I like too :) but here ya go - the new look pics just uploaded. Just over a week to my op but I'm so busy with all the little bits to sort out, haven't really had time to worry yet.
