Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are four Met Police Detective Sergeants, all in our 40's...some have suggested that we are past our peak...we aim to disprove this by cycling from Lands End to John O'Groates, which is 1066 miles!!

We will be starting on Saturday 22nd May 2010.

Please help us raise as much money as possible for our brave service men and women who not only need our help now...but no doubt will continue to do so for many years to come.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

We are very grateful to Waitrose, Radio Jackie and The British Forces Broadcasting Service for sponsoring us with their 'air time' and support. (Listen on DAB, Sky 0211, Freesat 786, http://www.bfbs.com/mike)

We are really appreciative of those of you who have already donated....

So please dig deep and donate now.

23.05.10   We've Just finished the first two days and we can safely say that if anyone suggest cycling 130 miles through Cornwall and Devon you should think long and hard because that just what the many hills are like.  LONG & HARD!!  Getting on to Dartmoor today meant a 6 mile long hill!!!!! the great weather and amazing scenery help as does the thought of the difference our sponsorship will make to those affect by the current conflicts.

Please feel free to pester your friends/colleagues and family members to sponsor us - Thanks

27.05.10  Sorry that it's taken so long to send out an update.  We're in Chester this evening and we've completed 350 miles.  The ride North along the English/Welsh border has been fantastic.  We're all bearing and coping with the mileage. People along the route have been ver generous with thier encouragement and support.  Today at a tea stop three peple just walked up and gave us £17.00 for H4H- Amazing.  It's very easy to get cynical especially as a Police officer but the public have been great - Thank You.  Your generosity helps young troops know you care and they'll get better help when they need it.

None of us seem to be losing too much weight as yet but there's a few hills to go!!  The Lake district is the day after tomorrow!!

We got a mention on Radio Jackie!!!!!

31.05.10. Now we are well into Scotland having clocked up 680 miles so far. This evening we're staying on the Isle of Arran, which if you've never been, is a beatiful place. Our Mph average hit 15.8 today which given the terrain is quite a feat.  We're definantly getting fitter but our evening visit to the pubs is slowing down out weight loss program but greatly increasing our donations.  Last night in Monaive In the Queens Hotel the locals gave us over £50.00!! The marked up van is a great assett and we definantly are able to generate more interest in the trip.

Tommorrow is a biggy with about 100 miles  to cover.
