My story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

It's been 6 and a half years now since our wonderful Mum passed away, losing her fight against ovarian cancer. Having spent much of her final years raising money for cancer charities, we established the Elaine Hersheson Memorial Fund, to celebrate her memory by raising money for Ovarian Cancer Action, the UK's largest charity dedicated to improving survival of a disease that is the highest gynaecological killer of women in this country.

This April, in support of the charity, we are setting off to traverse 250km of the Arctic, spending 14hrs a day crossing between Norway and Sweden by husky sledge in temperatures that, at night, can drop to below -20 degrees Celsius.

Mum would have thought this bordering on the insane – there are few things that she hated more than the cold - but we think she’d be proud of what we hope to achieve by taking on this challenge.

Please give whatever you can – we have funded the trip ourselves so all of your generous donations will go straight to the Ovarian Cancer Action Research Centre at Imperial College London, the only UK research facility entirely dedicated to ovarian cancer.

Thanks so much,

Marc and Josh

Ovarian cancer is the biggest gynaecological killer in the UK claiming the life of 1 woman every 2 hours, as many women still do not know the symptoms which leads to late diagnoses. We are dedicated to driving up survival rates by funding world-class research into causes, treatment and prevention.
