Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page and taking an interest in our exciting challenge. We came to the project separately as we had heard about the trek from other people, but as it's something we both feel passionate about doing we thought 'WHY NOT?!'
Het and Clare are going trekking in Nepal in March 2010!! We are going in order to raise funds for the amazing work of International Childcare Trust who already support vulnerable children in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Cambodia, Sri Lanka and India. We will have the opportunity to visit the school they are setting up in the village of Beni and the local children involved. We are hugely excited and have started the grueling process of training (well, we have JOINED the Ramblers…) and Hettie's bought new boots (see photo!)
The 10 day trip in March starts in the bustling city of Kathmandu, full of temples (and traffic!). We then head to Pothana (on a very small plane, aaagh!), and begin our trek on the Annapurna trail... The trek involves 5-6 hours walking each day on spectacular forested hillsides and through rural villages. We'll experience breathtaking mountainous vistas and a sunrise trek to the summit of Poon Hill (3190m) for some great photo opportunities! There will also be a chance to relax our aching limbs in the boiling hot springs of Tatopani. The accomodation is basic but comfortable- we'll be staying in tea-houses along the way, and luckily for us we will have some wonderful Nepalese porters to carry our luggage!
We will keep you posted on our training progress but in the meantime we need to carry on raising as much money as we can so would be hugely grateful for all your support, however small (or large!)
We are funding the actual cost of the trip ourselves so all the money raised will be used towards the project in Nepal.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer, so don't forget to tick the box! It’s the most efficient way to donate – we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Grateful thanks
Hettie and Clare xxx
