In memory of Maggie Weaver 3 December 1919 - 24 January 2010
Mum requested that donations at her time of death be made to the Break Organistaion. She had supported this charity for many years. They ran a children's home in Hunstanton called 'Sandcastles' which offered respite holidays to children and young people with disabilities and special needs.
She had worked there in a nursing capacity during the late 1960's and 1970's, and was involved with groups of children from Russia who suffered as a result of the Chernobyl accident.
She later became a 'Friend of Sandcastles' fundraising in as many ways as she was able, but particulary through knittting and sewing for fetes and bazaars. She also used to take part in their charity walks on the Sandringham Estate, even completeing the ten mile course while in her eighties!! She worked in their Charity Shop in Hunstanton until she was well into her seventies.
In 2002, the Break Organistion presented her with a Long Service Award, in recognition of her dedication to the charity.
An inspiration to us all.
Rest in Peace
