My story

Hello Lovelies-

I'm raising money to support the U-Turn Project. (see updates on progress, below)

Amanda Palmer recently auctioned off two dates with me on her webcasts. I'm using this as an opportunity to raise money and awareness for U-Turn (and meet some cool people, while I'm at it). Each date went for $740 (Ms. Palmer and I divided the proceeds). My goal is to raise 740 GBP. I would really appreciate it if you'd consider contributing to this excellent program.

The U-Turn Project supplied me with the following:

U Turn is an innovative and dynamic charity working with vulnerable women who have a history of or are still involved in sex work. The women that we work with often have a wide range of needs and problems from homelessness to confidence problems, our service is designed not only to help them to over come these individual issues but also to support each woman that we work with to find out the best way for her to turn her life around and find a more positive empowered way of life.

U turn provide outreach work and activities such as photography and poetry groups, home visits and sexual health counselling, and drugs worker in our women’s centre. We would like to thank you for your support and interest in our charity. A donation of £10 pays for an hours outreach work and helps the women to begin to make a U turn towards a sustainable happier life.

I'm particularly passionate about The U-Turn Project and have raised money in the past by producing The Vagina Monologues at the IoE/SOAS at the University of London. I'd really love it if you'd help me to raise money for this amazing organization.

*Update Oct 1: Thanks sooooooo much for your support so far! I'm blown away! I've decided to raise the stakes a little bit- if we reach the goal of £740 by the end of the week (Sunday, Oct 4) I'll also donate the other half of my proceeds earned from the dates. I'm pretty sure we can do it :) *

*Update Oct 3: Thanks you so much to everybody who donated, we reached the goal so 100% of my proceeds from the dates have been donated. I'm so proud to say that, including the £440 date money, we've raised enough money to pay for 96 hours of outreach work. Thank you, thank you, thank you.*

*Update Nov 5: I'm so happy to see donations coming in still!!! Please consider donating. Every penny really does make a difference to an organization like U-Turn.*
