This appeal is to raise money to help a very special little girl called Sparkle who is only 13 weeks old. She is special because she was born deaf and blind as a result of someone breeding 2 Merle Collies. This was not only irresponsible but condemned Sparkle and her litter mates to an uncertain future. Luckily for Sparkle and her sister Evie, Hope Rescue took them in and they are now both in a great foster home that is experienced with deaf / blind dogs.

Sparkle has two formed, but tiny (micropthalmic), eyes. She can see light and dark, and loves it when the sun comes out (hence the name ‘Sparkle’), and she can see when there is movement, like a dog running very close to her.

Unfortunately, Sparkle has yet more problems to overcome as she has become quite poorly over the past few days. She has never been as developed as her sister Evie, and sadly she has been showing some worrying symptoms over the last couple of days, both physically and in her behaviour. Initial blood test results show she is anaemic and it is apparent that she may also have neurological problems that need to be investigated urgently. She is being referred to a specialist neurologist and for an MRI scan. This will cost in the region of £1300. At Hope Rescue we believe that every dog deserves a chance, especially one so young where the odds have already been stacked against her. Please help us to give Sparkle that chance.
