Story
Hi Everyone
Yes I've done it! I have followed in the footsteps of Gary Barlow, Cheryl Cole and Chris Moyles and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro (all 19,330 ft of it) for charity. And oh was that last day exhausting. Of course it was fun, and it gets even more fun as time goes by!
Thanks to everyone in the group - to Steve the guide - and to all the lovely support crew from Tanzania, very friendly and solid guys. And thanks to you for all your support - as a group we have raised £25,000 for New Ways enough to pay for the mobile clinic.
New Ways is focused on projects that provide the basic needs of life such as water and nutrition. It is run entirely by volunteers so all the money I raised will go straight to those who need it. The specific project we raised money for is a Mobile Clinic; buying a vehicle, stocking it with medicines and paying for a nurse and driver for two years. This vehicle will go from location to location in this remote part of Kenya helping the nomadic community, and reducing the 30% child mortality rate.
Of course all the money I raised has gone to the charity as all my costs have already been covered (thanks to River and Mercantile).
Thanks again for all your support.
Hugh
