I had never dreamt of doing such a thing till I attended the very moving Thanksgiving service of a very old friend of mine Nick Baker. It truly inspired me to take this sabbatical. Nick had sailed the Atlantic singlehandedly in the last few years of his life which is amazing compared to the trip we are making. He founded this charity the Aqualung Trust who do some great work and so I felt that when or should we reach Cape Town it would be fitting to ask for donations to this charity.
