Huw Thatcher died at the age of 15 on March 13th 2011, playing football.  Huw had a brain haemorrhage as a result of a pre existing condition that no one knew about, or could have known about.

When Matthew was 6 months old he joined Bryancroft Nursery and the first friend he made was Huw. They continued to remain good friends through Tennis, Cubs and High School.

The Woolhouse family remember Huw with love for his enthusiasm and kindness and are very fortunate to have the Thatcher family as friends. We now want to support Jenny, Carys and Nick who we care about deeply and support the Huw Thatcher Trust.

Craig and Matthew are completing 2 challenging cycle rides over several days – the South Downs Way in July and the Coast to Coast in August. Anne and Katie are completing a 10k in September. All fundraising will go towards the Huw Thatcher Trust.

The Huw Thatcher Trust web site is now available at www.huwthatchertrust.org to preserve Huw’s identity, care for and love Huw and help brain injured people. It is a fitting legacy to Huw.  Just like Huw it is lively, energetic, fun, hard working, sympathetic, productive and greatly admired. If you have a moment, please look on the website to see the memories of Huw and the fundraising activities planned and held.

Some people with the same condition as Huw survive after surgery, but sometimes with devastating effects on their lives in the form of disabilities.  Therefore Huw's family want to support the Disabilities Trust charity - in particular the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust part of this charity.  Your donation via this Just Giving page will be forwarded to the Huw Thatcher Trust account within the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust.

As money is raised, Huw's family along with the Huw Thatcher Trust Team, will decide which projects in the Disabilities Trust to support.  Whatever the money is spent on, it will improve the lives of people who are disabled as a result of brain injury.

We know that people donate to other charities and they may contribute again in the future to the Huw Thatcher Trust so while people will want to give generously, donations of any size and at any time are ALL greatly appreciated. Thank you for making a donation; you are making a real difference to people's lives and helping remember Huw in a positive way.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. They’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. Hence it is the most efficient way to donate.
