My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page

This page has been set up to raise money for Lily's CAFOD Candlelight fund by you kindly sponsoring me in the Run To The Beat Half Marathon on 27 Sept 2009.

On 8 Sept 2008 we discovered our family was going to grow in number and love by two more babies Katherine was expecting twins a boy and a girl who were due to be born on Mothers Day 22 March 2009 what great and wonderful news! Jack and Emily, our two other children were so excited.

On 30 December 2008 our hopes and dreams for our two new additions to our family were crushed. We were told at a routine scan that our beloved daughter Lily had died and that her twin brother William wasn't very well either. We were all devastated.

Katherine carried the twins for six more weeks to give William a chance to get stronger and give him the best chance of survival when he was born. This was the hardest and longest six weeks of our lives.

William and Lily were born on 10 Feb 2009 (six weeks premature) William weighed in at 5lb 3oz and was whisked into the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) in Mayday Hopital. William was released from Mayday on 25 Feb 2009. Three days later we done something we never in our lives thought we would have to do. We had the funeral for one of our beloved children.

Our little angel Lily May Alice Carlyle was buried on Mon 2 March 2009 at 11 O'clock in the morning.

The Lily May Alice Carlyle Fund was set up as a tribute to Lily's memory and it is hoped that the fund will raise enough money to bring as much hope as possible to children living in poverty throughout the world.

In the current economic climate money is tight but just think what a small amount could acheive.

A small donation of just £3 (That is not even the price of a McDonalds Value meal or bearly the cost of a pint of beer) is enough to buy a full course of childhood vaccinations for one child living in poverty.

£7 could provide a school uniform for a child.

£17 could provide school fees, Uniform and books for a child for a whole year

£50 could provide a bicycle for a village health worker allowing them to bring help to more children in need.

The more money Lily's Candlelight fund raises the more we can all make a real difference to this world, by enabling other children to have the chance of life that Lily never had.
