<p>Hey,</p>
<p>Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.</p>
<p>I have decided this year to take on the event of triathlon. I wanted to challenge myself physically and originally thought of running a marathon, but the thought of pounding the pavements relentlessly didnt appeal. I already had the bike and i love the water, so when tri was suggested to me I thought the mix of training and disciplines sounded perfect.</p>
<p>The course is a 1.5km swim in St. Catherine's dock, a 40km cycle around the heart of London before finishing with a 10km run also around the streets of London.</p>
<p>I have been training for 4-5 months now, increasing the intensity as i go. Im now swimming a mile in the pool, 25-30 mile trips on the bike and i have just completed a half marathon for the run.</p>
<p>I spent a lot of time researching different charitable trusts as i dont have one that stands out as one i am close to. Having worked at Broomfield hospital in anaesthetic support for about 10 years now, i decided to support 2 departments that i have had personal involvement in. I have seen the amazing effort that all the staff put into their work, and all the benefits for the patients that spend time there.</p>
<p>I have decided to raise money for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the Paediatric Ward (Phoenix) at Broomfield hospital. Im sure some of you know someone that has been a patient on one of these wards in the past and you can vouch for all the great work the staff do and the extremely high standard of care that is delivered.</p>
<p>So, please dig deep and support 2 such worthy causes as i do my upmost to swim, cycle and run as fast as i can!</p>
