2 April
At last the photos of our trip.
27 March 2011 - Day 5
My little elf has been away so not updated last couple of days. We completed WHW at 15.45 Sunday. It was hard but we survived it well with feet intact. We will put photos on web and post link here. Thank you all again.
24 March 2011 - Day 2
Beautiful day. Scotland at its best. Hard walk over difficult terrain. Arrived at wigwams at 7.30pm. No food, no drink, nothing but sleep. An experience.
23 March 2011 - Day 1
Set off at 8.30 am and arrived at our first stop in Balmaha at 5.15pm.
Update 4
Two days to go. We are overwhelmed by the support we have received from far and wide. Thank you so much to everyone for your generosity. Yesterday we topped up our training with a 5.5 mile "baby" walk. We are ready to go!!!!!!
Update 3
One week now. Short walk of 9.5 miles up to Braidwood, Cartland Bridge, Nemphlar and Kirkfieldbank. Can't wait to get started now.
Update 2
Two weeks to go. Training going well. Sunday 6th March went moderately tough walk to Bonnington Weir above new Lanark. Just over 15 miles in 4.4 hours. We have exceeded our on-line target already. Thanks so much to everyone.
Update 1
Sunday 27th February. 13.5 miles from Hamilton to Crossford. A scoosh! Will repeat that 3rd March.
We will be walking the West Highland Way beginning on Wednesday 23rd March 2011. The route is 154.5 kms (that's 96 miles in old money) and we hope to complete the journey in 5 days. We want to dedicate our challenge to Ian's nephew Steven Stewart by raising donations for Scottish Epilepsy Initiative. Steven suffers from a very rare form of epilepsy and his daily challenges are many times more difficult than 5 days walking in the Scottish Highlands. Despite that Steven has set up his own fund raising for other epliepsy sufferers. Please see more details by going to the following site http://www.justgiving.com/stevenshonourfund If you feel able to, please donate to our charity and we will do our best to survive the rigours of the Scottish Highlands in late March!!!!!!!
