We offer free support to people with cancer and their loved ones

Story

2014 wasn't the greatest year for me. With my own heart problems and in May losing my dear sister Maggie and then in December losing my darling wife Christine. Both to lung cancer. Not forgetting my eldest sister Daphne who lost her battle with Cancer at the age of 41 in June 1988. After losing Christine, with the help of my children I thought I was doing well until May of this year when I just hit rock bottom. I needed someone independent to talk to and I remembered Hospital staff last year talking about Maggie's so I went along.

The moment I went through the doors I was made welcome by the staff and they sat and listened to my story. Nothing was too much bother for them. I am now a regular visitor to the Monday Mens Coffee Morning and have met some great new friends where we sit and chat about anything and everything. Even photographing models in fields of Rape Seed.

These visits have been a great help to me and sitting listening to other peoples stories gets a lump in my throat and makes me think, Live life to the full, as you never know what is around the corner.

For those of you who don't know of Maggie's, they are all over the country and the building in Newcastle is at the back of the Freeman Hospital, opposite the Northern Cancer Care Centre. It has recently celebrated its second anniversary. They offer free practical, emoltionaland social support to anyone who is dealing with Cancer together with friends and family.

This is my way of giving a little bit or a lot back to them as a way of saying thank you for their support. Not just to me but to everyone

If you would like to come along and support me the event is being held at the Cobalt Business Park, 4 Silver Fox Way, North Tyneside from 6pm on 11th November 2015

Thank you for your Donation.
