Halton Haven Hospice provides palliative care through a range of services to individuals and support for their families in Widnes and Runcorn and surrounding areas. The Hospice aims to relieve the sickness , suffering and distress of people resulting in particular from cancer and other terminal illnesses.

My story

Hi to all of you, and thanks for even reading this far. Now if you'll give me another five minutes I'll explain what this group is all about. On Monday 19th October 2009 I'm setting out on a 1680 mile unsupported bike journey, from Runcorn to Sutton Scotney via John O'Groats and Lands End. Why? Two reasons. 1. In support of Halton Haven Hospice, in Runcorn, 2. In support of Naomi House Children's Hospice, near Winchester. These are both Charity's that I have close ties with, and I hope to raise at least £1 a mile.

Back in 2002 and 2003, my Mum was terminally ill with cancer. She was a patient one day a week at Halton Haven (http://www.haltonhaven.co.uk/) and I have seen first hand the wonders that they work there and what a worth while charity they are. So much so that I ran the New York Marathon in 2003 in Aid of Halton Haven with a pulled hamstring as I was that determined to complete the charity event for them.

So, now that you have read all the info comes the big ask. If you could please please please be kind enough to sponsor me then it would be so appreciated. Even if it is only a £1 or 2 then it will go a long way into helping people who are suffering. But the other way you will be able to help is to send the link for this group onto others, if not everyone, you know! I'm hoping that even people who don't know me will recognise the hard work and commitment it takes to keep both charity's going and as such will donate or forward the link on.

Anyway, many thanks to you for reading this far. And hopefully come November you'll be reading about how Awesome my ride was on here!
