WHAT AN AMAZING GROUP YOU ARE - TARGET NOW SECURED £1,000+ !
Well done to you all! xx
The Marathon itself was for me one long smile with oodles of support en route, and wonderful views. Bands and groups provided the right tunes to keep the limbs moving!
No mile markers - so my stop watch and water stations served to measure the distances, 25 degrees meant a lot of hot and bothered runners - gradually filling up the first-aid stations.
My own supply of water allowed me to sail through the squiggy, slippy cups and the halfway mark read as 2hrs. 41mins. The challenge was on for a PB( personal best).
As the Brandenburg Gate came into view the noise from the crowd was phenomenal- it was emotionally choking. With 500m to go my watch said 5hrs. 26mins. - Over the finishing line 5hrs. 28mins. 38secs. Previous best was Edinburgh 5hrs. 30mins. 4secs.
Lovely feeling!
38,000 runners - 95 labelled walkers with restricted time to finish.
Jan Barnes 14th out of 95 - second fastest lady (she was 18mins ahead of me, so
room for further improvement!)
- Definitely NOT LAST!!
